Not your average designers

The best designers are problem solvers and we've got that down. We're mighty passionate about creating a solution that helps people understand a message, desire a service or just feel reassured that their trust is well placed.

Just making things look pretty simply doesn't cut it these days. We're a highly qualified team of experts with the unique knowledge and experience to help your business shine through our solutions-focused design framework. Surrounded by inspiring entrepreneurs and like-minded individuals, our creativity is supercharged every day and we are consistently kept in touch with the latest business hacks.

We've worked with everyone from tech startups in Sydney, healthcare organisations in the US, scientists in Finland, business consultants in Melbourne, through to big international corporates. We work strategically from a wealth of experience across a diverse B2B landscape to deliver the results your business deserves.

Every project is an opportunity to push the limits of our creativity, strategic knowledge and design practice to create the best work we have ever done. Our aim at popdot is to remain excited and invigorated about the work we do by always setting new boundaries on the limits of our capabilities and then breaking them.

We are not ‘yes, but…’ people. We are ‘yes, and…’ people.

Our people

Nicole Sidoti

Founder and Creative Director

In her own words: I'm seriously passionate about information and the way it is presented and communicated. I have almost 20 years of expertise in the design and production of print and digital products that meet the high standards of international publishing houses and advertising agencies alike. I've lived and worked in three of the world's most exciting cities (Sydney, London, New York) and have honed my craft at top tier companies. I've always been a knowledge seeker and have been fortunate to have loads of opportunities to develop a broad and multidisciplinary design skillset throughout my career while simultaneously gaining management and strategy expertise.

Still, starting Popdot was a mindbender. I've worked the all nighters, taught myself to code, worked on every new project I could get involved with, talked to every smart person I could find to absorb their knowledge and widom, and have pushed myself harder than I thought was possible and then pushed myself some more.

In a nutshell, I get it. I've been where you are and I've come out the other side to grow a business that I love and enjoy working in every single day.

Qualifications: I have an undergraduate BA in Critical & Cultural Studies from Macquarie University in Sydney. Over the years since then I have undertaken numerous courses in the graphic design space, including Fine Arts Photography, advanced Adobe Creative Suite classes focusing on InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop, as well as many masterclasses on branding and web design, learning from the best in the business. I've undertaken CCE courses in business and consultancy at the University of Sydney (Australia) and Harvard Business School (USA) to bolster skills in business and strategy, and I'm a New South Wales certified vocational trainer (Cert IV Training and Assessment).

In my spare time: you’ll find me learning something new via a course or reading the latest business or design book. Side hustles are my real addictive hobby and I’ll often be doodling on a Sunday afternoon — coffee in hand — brainstorming on the latest mind explosion that has sparked my creativity.

Stephanie Gunn

Senior Graphic Designer

In her own words: Having worked in the design industry for seven years, I'm always on the lookout for innovative approaches to design and am passionate about creative projects that offer new challenges. With over four years' experience in magazine publishing, I have extensive knowledge of page layouts for magazines — both print and digital — and have also worked on numerous branding, exhibition and marketing projects.

Moving from London to Sydney, I thrive on working in great cities that are surrounded by inspiring design and innovation. Having always worked in small production teams, I understand the importance of building strong client relationships and ensuring their needs remain at the forefront of the design process from start to finish. Maintaining this focus at Popdot, I am passionate about helping small businesses grow and develop while at the same time fostering great partnerships with our corporate clients.

In my spare time: you’ll find me visiting my local gym before work, enjoying a delicious brunch by the ocean or taking a walk through one of the many beautiful National Parks.

Your business deserves the real deal

We are your design team and we're here for you. A lot of the businesses we work with have told us that they initially came to us because they were tired of the impersonal relationships they were having with larger agencies.

By staying small we can have real relationships with our clients, that means that when you phone us, you speak to a designer, never to an account manager or intermediary.

Collaboration + respect

We recognise that our clients know their business, their livelihood, their passion better than we do. We draw on our vast knowledge and expertise to work collaboratively with you to deliver results that stay true to the core of your brand.

We involve you in every step of the process so that you always know what's going on and are confident that every decision made is the right one for your business.

Strategy + process

These days design is not enough. Our goal is to do more than just design. We strategise in line with your business objectives to produce full-bodied solutions to your design and marketing problems.

Having worked with hundreds of businesses, our processes have been honed and streamlined to get results without the hassle. Schedules, checklists, systematised workflows — we're all over it.

Popdot staff are selected specifically for the quality of their experience, history of achievement and ability to get stuck in and take initiative.

Combined with serious dedication to learning, our experience is top notch and we pour quality into every project, no matter how small or how tight the deadline. Scrappy just isn't us. We're proud of the work we do and we work crazy hard to craft exactly what you need.

Are we a good fit?

We don't work with just anyone. We've learned through trial and error that the best projects both in the standard of work produced, the intelligence behind them, and the good times we have along the way are with people just like us. We work best with like-minded professionals who care about the values that we care about: quality, reliability, good communication and hard work. If you care deeply about what you do and smile when you talk about it, odds are we're on the same page and we'd love to get to know you.

Industry involvement

Professional development is core to knowledge building in every business sector and is something we're passionate about here at Popdot. You'll regularly see us attending or co-hosting design events and we're always doing courses to improve our skills.

We are actively involved in the following organisations (among others) as members, contributors, committee members and event co-hosts:

We work with clients predominantly in the professional services sector based locally in Sydney and Melbourne, elsewhere around Australia and in 14 countries around the world.

Popdot were recommended to us by a mutual client. We were looking to implement a social and interactive network, one that would be collaborative across our 3 Australian studios. Popdot were the link that connected the technology with our IT team through to the staff. The team were super friendly and great to work with throughout the entire project, ultimately delivering exactly what we wanted.

We’re part of Pledge 1%, where we promise to donate 1% (we give more for sure) of our time to give just a little bit back.

In the past this has included things like mentoring primary school girls and guiding them through the Tech Girls Are Superheroes competition, mentoring women at the Sydney Writers Festival, running pro bono sessions for startups at Fishburners, and sponsorship of community organisations like the Brisbane Symphony Orchestra.

We also make regular contributions to a number of charities, with the main focus this year being for the House of Welcome, providing shelter, legal aid and other services to refugees seeking asylum.
