WHY WE THINK IT'S COOL: Harris Mackay came to us asking for a complete rebrand and redesign of their logo and tender document. Here at Popdot, we love branding and any opportunity to be creative so this project was right up our alley! The original logo was in need of a fresh and professional new look. The main icon was made up of circles so we continued this theme into the new logo, but incorporated the initials 'H' & 'M' to strongly connect the logo icon with the company name. Very subtly, the 'H' in particular mimics the basic shapes of a window frame which is apt considering the company specialises in office fit-outs, retail stores and building refurbishments. Harris Mackay specified gun metal grey as their primary logo colour which is a striking and confident colour and one that will compliment any design without creating an overwhelming range of colour.

Similar to the logo, the tender document needed a fresh lease of life. Once we had finalised the new logo, it was important to incorporate the new branding and overall design style throughout the tender document in order to achieve a strong brand identity that the company's clients could easily connect with. Using the same gun metal grey and font that we used for the logo, the document started to take shape. By including the circles of the logo icon subtly throughout the document, it adds an additional and unique graphic element that really enhances the new brand. The use of professional and striking high-res imagery has enabled us to achieve an impressive final document that stands out amongst the company's competitors. In a nutshell, it's slick, modern and dynamic, and effectively compliments the style and sophistication of the logo.


Brisbane Symphony Orchestra

WHY WE THINK IT'S COOL: Brisbane Symphony Orchestra came to us with two main requests: to redesign their very dated website and to implement eCommerce so that there was the capability for visitors to purchase tickets for upcoming concerts directly on the site. The integration of eCommerce would become an beneficial addition to the site by allowing easy ticketing and generating greater traffic to the site. Essentially, the organisation wanted a impressive and professional site that would stand out amongst its competitors. 

The site itself was in need of a thorough redesign. With a lack of consistency regarding the layouts; use of imagery and fonts across the site, and dated written content, the site needed some TLC to bring it back to life and to generate more traffic. We didn't take any elements from the existing website and decided to completely start from scratch, enabling us to fully control the creative direction of the design. We also designed the new site on Squarespace — an awesome platform that allows our clients to have full control of their site once it's up and running without relying on additional dev support. Prior to working on the website, we had been asked to redesign the BSO logo to give it a new lease of life. Our first point of call was to therefore design a website that enhanced the new-look brand and achieve a strong visual identity. By incorporating the colours and fonts of the logo, the website already was back on track! Establishing simple, yet clean layouts, incorporating large banner images using a selection of striking professional photographs and taking advantage of strong calls to action the website now reflects professionalism and is visually exciting to visitors. The implementation of eCommerce is a great addition to the website and it certainly allows for a successful user experience, allowing visitors to learn more about the orchestra and purchase future concert tickets at the click of a button.

WHY WE THINK IT'S COOL: We're very excited to have welcomed our lovely print and digital graphic designer Mimi Seymore to the Popdot team! As a fun and exciting first introductory project, Mimi designed up some beautiful new animations for the Popdot services, which can also be seen on our home page. Adding interaction to these has given a new dimension to the illustrations and really brings them to life. We plan to incorporate a lot more of these fab animations across our website and future email campaigns, so watch this space! 

Mimi's awesome digital skills brings a new range of design talent to the Popdot team. We're super excited to be able to offer animation to our clients that will enable them to achieve design that will no doubt stand out from their competitors.
